Bomin Xu Chair Prof.

Professor Baomin Xu joined South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTC) in July, 2014. Prior to that, he worked at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) as a Senior Member of Research Staff and Project Manager. Professor Xu is dedicated to fundamental researches with commercialization potential. He is the author or co-author of 60 technical publications, and the inventor of 27 granted US patents.

Research Interests:

◆ Low cost manufacturing approaches for high efficiency silicon photovoltaic cells; New material systems for solar cells based on earth-abundant and non-toxic elements; integrated solar photovoltaic and solar thermal technologies for high efficiency, full solar spectrum utilization.

◆ Microstructure design and optimization, digital and 3D printing technologies for energy storage materials and devices

◆ Intermediate and low temperature fuel cells using carbon-based fuels.

◆ Mechanisms of generation, separation, transportation, and combination of “energy carriers” at atomic and nanometer scales.
